Finding a Flow State
/Not having to face the alarm at 3:45am every morning has been pretty liberating. Categorically placing daily tasks upon waking, however, comes with some challenges.
My routine has shifted from 3 days at the day job to instead 3 glorious days of working in the studio. Sounds pretty fun. Except Monday mornings i’m bombarded with answering emails, putting out fires, and paying bills when I’m chomping at the bit to make art. Rather than fighting it, I’ve allowed it to be a necessary part of my new career.
*Monday- Deal with as much shit as you can until noon, then go make shit.
I’ve found my Tuesdays and Wednesdays to progressively be more productive when I can make it to the studio. There is a lot of extra stuff that goes along with business, i.e. interviews, photography, meet-ups, etc. that I tend to schedule during these prime hours and steal my focus.
*Tuesdays + Wednesdays- Stop putting unnecessary shit on your plate.
The rest of the week is reserved for running the studio which should be a better use of my time to run all those crummy errands and business necessities before opening the studio.
I think I can handle those 2 new rules for myself to keep on track…
